THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) and Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), the state government’s nodal agency for fostering technological innovation, will conduct ‘Sankethapravesam – 2017’, an induction function for incoming engineering students here on Wednesday.
Organised in partnership with the IT Department, the high-profile event – which will be beamed to all the engineering colleges in the state – will be inaugurated at Tagore Theatre by Governor of Kerala Justice P. Sathasivam. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will address the gathering.
The inaugural function, which begins at 9.30 am, will be presided over by Minister for Education Prof. C. Raveendranath. IT Secretary M. Sivasankar will propose the vote of thanks while KTU vice-chancellor Dr Kuncheria P. Isaac will deliver the welcome address.
The programme will see Dr Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), expound on the importance of a vibrant startup culture to furthering technological development.
Following the function, Dr Sahasrabudhe will participate in a panel discussion on the same issue with KSUM CEO Dr Saji Gopinath, Startup Village Collective (SV.CO) Chairman Sanjay Vijayakumar, KTU Pro VC Dr M. Abdul Rahman, Trinity College of Engineering Principal Dr Arun Surendran and Shri Santhosh Kurup, CEO of ICT Academy Kerala.
‘Metro Man’ Dr E. Sreedharan will deliver a lecture on professional ethics and values. KTU Dean (Academics) Dr J. Sreekumar will also speak at the programme.
