The US Department of State has selected Nasif N.M. of Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) to attend the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) in Washington DC starting tomorrow, making him the only Indian representative among the 20 participants at the three-week program that focuses on technology entrepreneurship.

Nasif, who is Head of Programs & Communications at KSUM, is a seasoned community leader and startup ecosystem builder with eight years of experience. The May 4-25 across the United States aims to enhance mutual understanding, forge long-term business relationships and promote the exchange of ideas across various fields.

The 1940-established IVLP facilitates engagement between current and emerging leaders from various countries and their American counterparts. According to the U.S. Department of State, IVLP has been attended by more than 200,000 international visitors, including 500-plus chiefs of state or heads of government.

Nasif’s selection acknowledges his significant ongoing contributions to the Indian startup ecosystem over the past eight years, points out KSUM CEO Anoop Ambika. “Throughout the program, he will engage in various meetings, discussions and collaborative projects across the US,” Ambika revealed. “This will help the participant acquire insights into global best practices and perspectives that will benefit Kerala’s local startup ecosystem.”

Nasif, who is an MBA and a native of Nettoor in Kochi, said his participation implies an honour for Kerala’s startup ecosystem as much as KSUM.

Notable among the earlier IVLP participants from Kerala are Technopark Founding CEO G. Vijayaraghavan and Asianet News former Editor M.G. Radhakrishnan.

KSUM is Kerala government’s nodal agency established in 2006 for entrepreneurship development and incubation activities in the state.
