Rashtriya Janata Dal All India Secretary and Central Parliamentary Board Member Anu Chacko stated that even though the law was passed with 33 percent reservation for women, it has not been implemented anywhere.
Anu Chacko urged all political parties to take collective decisions to esnure women get adequate consideration. International Women’s Day is the memories of women raising their voices for their rights.
It is also the reminder of the progress, struggle and resounding success of women to improve their circumstances at workplaces and living conditions. On March 8, 1857, women workers in New York textile mills first raised their voices against low wages, long working hours and the right to vote against capitalism and it has become the voice of women.
It was from 1975 United Nations started observing March 8 as International Women’s Day. Even though it is argued that women have progressed socially, professionally and educationally, the truth is that women are not safe in this society.
It is not easy for a woman to determine her place in this society. Don’t teach our daughters that if you are a girl, you have to endure everything. A mother is a child’s first teacher and the message a mother gives to her child is the message the child gives to the world. The greatest calamity of this era is that the new generation is addicted to drugs.
RJD All India General Secretary Anu Chacko was speaking after inaugurating the Pathanamthitta Mahila Janata Dal programme. Advocate Annie City opined that only if 33% reservation comes in Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and judiciary, women will get their due importance.
