Malankara Orthodox Sabha to Protest on November 17th in Kolenchery

 

KOLENCHERY:
The Malankara Orthodox Sabha has decided to conduct a protest meeting against the continued attacks against its churches and devotees.

To put an end to the series of attacks, the Orthodox faction has decided to organize a mega protest meeting and rally on November 17th, Sunday at 3.00pm in St. Peter’s & St. Paul’s church premises. The protest will be presided by Metropolitan. Dr. Mathews Mar Severios and inauguration by Baselios Marthoma Paulose II Catholica Bava.

Devotees attending prayer service at Vadavucode church were attacked last Sunday and two Orthodox church members were injured and admitted to hospital with severe injuries. In the past few weeks the miscreants even stooped too low by smearing chilly powder inside the church. In another instance devotees of Orthodox faction at Chorakkuzhi were attacked who were just executing the court judgement under the protection of police.

Church cross tower opposite to Devalokam Aramana and Thoothootty Mar Gregarious Chapel were also attacked. Trustee of Orthodox Sabha at Mannarkkad church, Santhosh was attacked and severely injured. Varikoli church vicar Fr. Viju Eliyas was subjected to bodily harm many times and there was widespread theft in Malankara churches.

“It is high time that the government and its officials take necessary actions to end this episode of attacks and bring upon peace. Patriarch group is trying to cause trouble in all the churches receiving positive verdicts by claiming it is for the cause of protecting the churches and it is believed with the support of the government and its authorities.” Fr. Dr. Johns Abraham Konat said while addressing the media persons.

Former PSC Chairman Dr. K S Radhakrishnan, will deliver the keynote address. Metropolitans of the congregation Dr. Thomas Mar Athanasius,Dr. Yakob Mar Irenaios, Yuhanon Mar Policarpos, Yuhanon Mar Meletius, Aranmula MLA Veena George, Priest Trustee Dr. M.O John, MOSC Association Secretary Adv. Biju Oommen and various other leaders will be addressing the gathering.

Vehicle parking order of protest attendees

1) People from Muvattupuzha region- Buses must be parked in Hilltop after dropping passengers near Indian Oil pump. Cars must be parked in school ground.

2) People from Perumbavoor region- Buses must be parked in Hilltop after dropping passengers near Vyapara Bhavan. Cars must be parked in ground opposite to private stand.

3) People from Ernakulam region- Buses must be parked in Hilltop after dropping passengers near South Indian Bank. Cars must be parked in college ground.
