Mani Viswanath Elected as Chairperson of Milma’s TRCMPU

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Mani Viswanadh was today elected as Chairperson of Thiruvananthapuram Regional Co-operative Milk Producers Union (TRCMPU) after the completion of the electoral process to the regional union of Milma comprising four southern districts.

The LDF panel won nine seats while the UDF panel got five seats in the election.

Viswanadh, hailing from Alappuzha district and currently serving as Administrative Convener of TRCMPU, was unanimously elected to the post by the newly-formed members of the director board of the regional union which met here this afternoon.

Paving the way for formation of the new administrative set-up, the High Court had given the nod for counting of votes of the elections held earlier. The electoral college comprised office-bearers of TRCMPU-affiliated milk co-operative societies of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts.

A former government servant, Viswanadh, who is currently the President of Dairy Cooperative Society, Pathiyoorkala in Alappuzha, assumed charge as the Administrative Committee Convener of TRCMPU after N Bhasurangan stepped down from the post.

The representatives selected to the regional union from various districts are V S Padmakumar, Ayaparambu Ramachandran, T K Prathula Chandran, Mani Viswanadh, KR Mohanan Pillai, Kalathil T Gopalakrishnapillai, P G Vasudevan Unni, J Mohar, Mundappalli Thomas, P V Beena, N Bhasurangan, W R Ajith Singh, K Krishnan Potti and M Krishnankutty.

Viswanadh is currently Health and Education Standing Committee Chairperson of Muthukulam Block Panchayat.

She had worked in Agriculture and Panchayat Departments for 18 years. She had also served as vice president of Alappuzha District Panchayat, state committee member of the Kerala Mahila Sangham and state committee member of KSSPA. A state committee member of the Senior Citizens Forum, Viswanadh also served as State Vice President of the Joint Council and its Women’s wing President.

This is the first time a woman is selected to the post of the Chairperson of TRCMPU.
