THIRUVANANTHAPUAM:
R.K. Kulshrestha, General Manager, Southern Railway conducted a meeting with Members of Parliament (Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) of Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad Divisions at Government Guest House, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram today.
Out of 39 MPs, 18 MP’s participated in the meeting. Shirish Kumar Sinha, Divisional Railway Manager, Thiruvananthapuram Division, Prathap Singh Shami, Divisional Railway Manager, Palakkad Division, Principal Head of Departments of Southern Railway and Divisional Officers attended the meeting.
The General Manager welcomed the dignitaries and appraised the MPs about the progress of several important works in Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad Divisions, list of which is provided below.
MPs raised the issue of timely running of trains. The various bottlenecks regarding punctuality were explained to them and that due to safety related track works, the punctuality of trains was more affected. It was also discussed that the railways will expedite these works and with continuous monitoring, some visible improvements will be achieved in punctuality of trains in the next two months.
MPs raised the problems and requirements related to their areas and at stations in their constituencies. The status of works undertaken in those stations was also discussed. MPs appreciated the efforts of railways during recent floods and the commendable job done by the Divisions.
