Milma Announces Subsidy of Rs 70 per Cattle-feed Bag from January 1

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Milma will provide its cattle feed at a subsidy of Rs 70 per bag to help the farmers in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the Director Board of the Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF) here today.

The subsidy will be available for all the cattle-feed brands, Milma Chairman P A Balan Master said after the meeting. Milma has already been giving a subsidy of Rs 40 of its cattle-feed bags of 50 kg. From January 1 onwards, this subsidy will be raised to Rs 70 per bag.

“We cannot ignore the role of the dairy farmers in helping Kerala attain self-sufficiency in milk production. The extra subsidy will augment the growth of the state’s milk industry,” he said.

The subsidies have been announced to lessen the financial difficulties being faced by the dairy farmers in the state following the crisis caused by Covid 19.

The Milma board of directors also passed a resolution extending support to the strike in Delhi by the farmers against the farm bill. The members called upon the Union Government to intervene in the issue and resolve the deadlock at the earliest.
