THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Minister for Health, Social Justice, and Women and Child Development, K.K. Shailaja Teacher will inaugurate the International Week of the Deaf 2019 and International Day of Sign Languages 2019, being organized by the National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH), at NISH campus, Akkulam here on September 26.
The Minister will also release the CD of Gandhiji’s favourite bhajans in Indian Sign Language (ISL) at the function to be held at 10:30 am. Sheeba George, Director, Social Justice Department and Executive Director, NISH, will preside over the programme.Dr K.G. Satheesh Kumar, Director, Centre for Assistive Technology and Innovation (CATI), NISH, and Raji Gopal, Coordinator, Degree (Hearing Impaired), NISH, will also attend the function where Sandeep Krishnan, ISL Teacher, NISH, will speak about Deaf Week.
