NISH Webinar on Communication Postponed to June 23

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
The National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH) has postponed the online seminar on “Communication: Methods other than Speech” for the parents and caregivers of differently abled children to June 23. It’s being organised in collaboration with the Directorate of Social Justice.
The online Interactive Disability Awareness Seminar (NIDAS) will be led by Sangeetha. G.S, Speech Language Pathologist, Department of Audiology & Speech Language Pathology, NISH, Thiruvananthapuram. This is the 32nd webinar being organized by NISH on this topics and related subjects.
The proceedingswill be streamed live for registered participants from the NISH campus at Akkulam in the city from 10.30 am. It will be simultaneously webcast to all the District Child Protection Units (DCPU) offices in 14 districts for the audiences there.
The two-and-a-half hour webinar, to be conducted in Malayalam, aims at creating awareness on Augmentative and Alternative Communication methods and how they help improve the ability of an individual with a communication impairment to communicate effectively. Those who wish to participate in the webinar may contact the nearest Child Protection Units Officer or register online at http://nidas.nish.ac.in/be-a-participant/.
