THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Milma has clarified that there was no lapse in the supply of ghee to Sabarimala and that only premium-quality ghee meeting all prescribed standards was supplied.
The Federation reiterated that it has never compromised on the quality or purity of its products. Maintaining highest standards of quality remains central to Milma’s commitment to consumers.
Milma Chairman KS Mani said here in a press meet that genuine, premium-quality ghee was dispatched from Milma to Sabarimala after undergoing stringent quality checks. He said Milma, the dairy cooperative of Kerala’s farmers, manufactures ghee and other dairy products using advanced technology while ensuring the highest standards of quality and food safety.
Milma Managing Director Asif K Yusuf was also present at the press meet.
“The ghee supplied to Sabarimala was packed in fully sealed 15 kg tins, making any alteration or tampering during transit impossible. All Milma dairies follow the same stringent quality protocols,” the Chairman added.
According to the Chairman, the sealed consignments were received at Sabarimala go down by the Travancore Devaswom Board officials concerned. Thereafter, the handling and use of the ghee was outside Milma’s control.
He further stated that Milma has never received any official communication from the Devaswom authorities regarding any issue with the quality of the ghee supplied to Sabarimala. He also confirmed that Milma had received full payment for the supplied ghee from the Devaswom.
“If Milma ghee were replaced with any spurious or substandard product after delivery, it would amount to a serious offence. Those responsible must be identified and prosecuted under both civil and criminal law,” the Chairman said.
The Chairman cited media reports indicating that the Travancore Devaswom Board has sufficient quantities of ghee received from devotees daily to meet its current requirements and, therefore, does not need to procure additional ghee from outside at present.
He added that consumer trust and Milma’s commitment to the welfare of dairy farmers remain the cornerstones of the organization’s growth. Milma’s procurement, production and distribution processes are fully transparent and subject to strict quality controls.
He also emphasized that the Federation remains committed to supporting dairy farmers through welfare initiatives that generate sustainable livelihoods while strengthening Kerala’s dairy sector and advancing the state’s goal of dairy self-reliance.
