Additionally, a similar incident took place on 26th June 2017 at Zalor beach which is close to Varca beach where an Olive Ridley turtle was rescued by Drishti lifeguards Nandesh Velip and Sandesh Gaonkar. The rescued turtle which had an injury on its front flippers found it difficult to venture back into the sea.
The two injured Olive Ridley turtles were safely handed over to the Forest Department officials.
Earlier in the week in a similar incident a turtle was rescued in Colva and after examination was released back into the sea.
