In response to growing anxiety among expatriate communities following the ongoing conflict in parts of West Asia, Kerala-based online mental health platform Oppam has announced a free psychological support initiative for Malayali and Tamil communities living across Middle East countries.

Oppam was launched in 2023 in Kerala by Ebrahim Hawaz, Abdulla Kunhi, and Mubashira with the aim of making mental health support more accessible, particularly for people who struggle to find services in familiar languages.
The founders, who hail from Kasaragod, said the initiative was driven by concerns about the growing need for culturally and linguistically accessible psychological support. Many people, they noted, hesitate to seek mental health care due to stigma, lack of awareness, or the limited availability of services in their native languages.
