PANAJI:
The inauguration of the Reconstruction of New Fisheries Jetty at Panaji, Goa was done at the hands of Sidharth Kuncalienker, Vice Chairman of GSIDC and MLA of Panaji constituency, in the distinguished presence of Sanjit Rodrigues, MD GSIDC and other dignitaries.
Under the visionary leadership of Pramod P. Sawant, GSIDC is helping lead the way in building quality infrastructure for the state of Goa. Currently, the corporation is in the process of building roads, bridges, hospitals, colleges, schools, libraries, stadiums, jetties, bus stands, cultural centres and market complexes and is involved in the holistic development of rural and urban spaces.
Adding to this list of works, GSIDC has undertaken the “Demolition of old existing Jetty and Reconstruction of New Fisheries Jetty at Panaji, Goa”.
Located at banks of River Mandovi it is an extension of the Captain of Ports jetty and is located in the heart of Panaji city.The jetty is 104 mtrs long with a deck area of 105 sq. mtrs. The plan area is approximately 1000 sq. mtrs., with one approach. The jetty is designed as a passenger berth to carry a maximum vessel capacity 4500 tons Dead Weight Tonnage (DWT). Two types of railing are provided for the jetty, i.e. glass type railing on the deck and stainless steel railing for the staircases. The jetty is equipped with cathodic prevention system for control of corrosion in splash zone. High-tech LED fixutures are used which have longer burning hours, reduced power consumption, dimmability, daylight energy savings and CO2
emission reductions.
Madhav Kamat & Associates is the consultant on the project and Kargwal Constructions Pvt. Ltd. is the contractor. The awarded cost of the jetty is around Rs. 8.87 crores
