Aniline Fernandes, the captain of Rosary Higher Secondary School, Goa has an uphill task at hand to guide her school to the podium finish as they take on spirited Father Agnel School-Mumbai in the Senior Girls final of Reliance Foundation Youth Sports National football championship, at Cooperage Ground, Mumbai on Saturday, 7th January 2017.
A midfielder and an under-14 & under-17 age group India international player, Aniline Fernandes has so far led Rosary School effectively, winning the RFYS Goa City Leg and guiding her team to the final at RFYS National Leg. The Goan team sailed through to the final after a comprehensive 3-1 win over Chennai’s P.S. Senior Secondary School in the semis earlier.
Goa is the only state to have qualified for the semi-finals across all four cate
gories – junior boys, senior boys, college boys and senior girls. The three boys’ teams from Goa,Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School, Govt. Higher Secondary School Sanquelim andRosary College of Commerce & Arts had bowed out of their respective semis. Goa’s lone chances of winning the national championship now hinges on the performance of Rosary Higher Secondary School.
Nita Ambani, Founder & Chairperson, Reliance Foundation along with member of the RFYC Advisory Board Sachin Tendulkar will be in the stands to watch the RFYS College Boys finals.
