THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
After drawing an enthusiastic response for its inaugural edition, the Trivandrum Cyclathon comes to the city for the second time on Saturday (Apr 8), with the aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle and creating awareness about environmental pollution.
The only event of its kind in the capital city, the Trivandrum Cyclathon will witness participation of 20
The cycling circuit will go through Kowdiar, Pattom and PMG and finish back at Manaveeyam. Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Adv.V.K.Prasanth will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony.
A partial traffic block will be put into place and other motorists would be allowed access to only the designated track at the time of the event.
The Trivandrum Cylcathon, organised by Stark in association with Silk Air, is supported by cycling clubs such as Indus Cycling Embassy and Trivandrum Bikers Club. Bergamont Bicycles, Red FM and MasterCard are the event partners.
There are various participation categories. The Stark Kids Fun Ride is a 2.5 km ride for children between 6 and 12 years; the Champions Ride is chalked over 40 km; and the Fitness Ride is over a less intensive 14 km.
The first, second and third prize winners in the Champions Ride will receive a combined cash award of Rs 50,000 and the winners of the Fitness Ride will be awarded trophies.
