Divisional Railway Hospital at Thiruvananthapuram Petah was started on 15th November 1991 as a 50 beded Hospital. In 2009,4 bed ICU was also established.Along with 6 health Units at Nagercoil, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Thrissur it serves the health needs of around 70000 railway beneficia
ries. The Hospital provides round the clock casualty service, Daily General Out Patient Department, Lab services, X-ray and specialist OP in Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology, Pediatric, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Ultrasound, Dermatology and Urology on nominated days. There is a modern operation theatre and a physiotherapy unit .All types of General surgeries, including cancer surgeries., breast reconstruction, laparoscopic surgeries, Gynaecology surgeries, Urological surgeries and total knee replacement is being done regularly . The Hospital has tie up for cashless treatment for emergencies with SK Hospital at Thiruvananthapuram, Lakshmi Hospital at Ernakulam, NS Hospital at Kollam, . Besides cancer cases are given free treatment at Regional cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram. Bio Medical waste is disposed through contract with IMAGE.

The Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Hospital was celebrated on 15th November 2016 with, opening of a new Conference Hall by Chief Guest Dr Prasanna Kumar, Chief Medical Director, Southern Railway. Prakash Butani, Divisional Railway Manager, Sunil Bajpai, Former DRM, KS Jain, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Dr Marry Mathew, Chief Medical Superintendent were present. A cultural programme by staff followed. The Hospital is sanctioned with new equipments like Digital X-Ray Machiene and OT table and other infrastructure development in 2016-17.
