An officer with the Union Bank of India Subharenjini along with Ameer, a member of the Kochi-based Freedom Band, presented a mélange of old and new songs at the 137th edition of the programme for the patients, hospital staff and bystanders to enjoy.
Subharanjini began with the Malayalam song, ‘Lokham Muzhuvan Sukam Pakaraan’ , followed by more such popular numbers, including a duet with Ameer, ‘Janmangal pulkumi’. She wound up the show with the retro hindi number, ‘Nainom Mein Badra Chaaye’ from the 1966 movie Mera Saaya.
Ameer, who has 20 years of experience singing on stage, said, “I am extremely delighted to be part of this show and genuinely wish that the show goes on to bring solace to patients.”
Subharenjini, a protégée of the great music director Ravindran Master, displayed her versatility with the choice of songs. She made her debut in playback singing with Ravindran Master’s movie, ‘Chakram’ and took a break to embrace motherhood before making
a comeback on stage. “Being back into music after a break is a much wanted change for me personally, I am overwhelmed by the support that the crowd gave us”, she said.
