  • State has to Promote ‘Kerala Brand’ in Ayurveda, Say Experts

By NE Reporter on February 2, 2026

    KOZHIKODE:
Promoting Ayurveda under ‘Kerala Brand’ by showcasing its uniqueness is the key for making Kerala a domain leader of wellness tourism on the global stage, experts said at the first International Ayurveda and Wellness Conclave that got underway here today.

They were sharing their insights at a panel session on ‘Kerala as a Global Hub of Ayurveda’ held on the sidelines of the two-day event, organised by Ayurveda Promotion Society (APS) in association with Department of Tourism and allied tourism/health organizations.

The conclave brought together Ayurveda scholars, global wellness experts, policymakers, academics, industry leaders, travel trade professionals and international stakeholders.

Highlighting the prevalent unnecessary scientific theories stapled in Ayurveda, Dr. T S Krishna Kumar, Chief Consultant and Director, Santhiniketan Ayurveda Kendram and Panchakarma Institute, Vadakara, said the state leads in the domain due to the wisdom in Kerala’s Ayurveda tradition.

“The authentic tradition of Kerala in Ayurveda should be branded properly. Besides, we need to identify the uniqueness in Kerala while offering the traditional medicine. We have our own way of diagnosing diseases,” Dr Kumar pointed out.

Dr Indulal, Trustee, Akami Ayurveda Foundation, Angamali, said the global requirement of Ayurveda is going to be manifold in the coming years and Kerala needs to prepare for it.

Jose Dominic, Co- Founder, CGH Earth Experience, reminded the stakeholders that quality of service without compromising on the product is the key in the competitive Ayurveda sector.

Noting that right efforts and proper branding can transform Kerala as a global leader, Dr Alathiyoor Narayanan Nambi, Principal and Medical Director of Ashtangam Ayurveda Chikitsalayam and Vidyapeedham, stressed the importance of collaboration between clinical services and academic institutions.

He said education is the best segment to explore and follow changing global trends.

Dr Induchoodan, NABH (AYUSH) Assessor &Medical Director, Rudraksham Arogyashramam, was the moderator.

In another session on ‘Integrating Ayurveda & Yoga into Wellness Tourism,’ Dr HariPallatheri, Founder, Sudarshanam Ayurveda LLP; Kaithapram Vasudevan Nampoothiri, Director, Patanjali Yoga Training & Research Centre; Dr Nariparambu Devan Nampoothiri, Founder & Chief Physician, Asokalaym Ayurveda Chikitsa Kendram, Thiruvegapura; and Dr Raveendranath PMS, Medical Director, Poonthottam Ayurvedasram, shared their views.

It was moderated by Dr Yadunanandan K P, Chief Medical Officer, District Ayurveda Hospital, Kozhikode.
