State Human Rights Commission Dismisses Petition of Jacobite Faction

KOCHI:
The state human rights commission dismissed the petition filed by Jacobite faction alleging that the Orthodox faction was preventing funerals. The Commission pointed out there could not be any deviation from the Supreme Court order on July 3, 2017. The order was issued by Justice SHRC Chairperson Justice Antony Dominic.

The commission has made it clear that the right to perform burial is vested with respective parish priests. The commission observed in the order that the entire controversy between two factions of the Malankara church had been resolved by the Supreme Court.” Despite Supreme Court order unnecessary issues are being raised in the guise of violation of human rights and attempts are made to unsettle the law laid by the Apex ” the commission observed.
