In observance of World Stroke Day, Amrita Hospital hosted a series of awareness programs. Medical students led a flash mob highlighting the symptoms of stroke, while a public poster exhibition provided additional educational material. Nursing students also presented a visual display on stroke awareness.
On the 31st, a Stroke Day Run commenced from the hospital entrance, inaugurated by Lions Club District Governor Rajan N Namboothiri and Dr. Vivek Nambiar, Head of the Stroke Department. Around 200 participants joined the Stroke Day Run, which went from the hospital to Edappally Kunnumpuram Junction and back.
Dr. Vivek Nambiar conducted awareness sessions, noting that high blood pressure is a major contributor to stroke risk and advising reduced salt intake to maintain healthy blood pressure levels. He also stressed that individuals with heart disease or valve disorders face an elevated stroke risk and should undergo regular screenings and take necessary precautions.
