  • Suhasini Visits Kerala Tourism’s Photo Expo ‘Lenscape Kerala’

    CHENNAI:
    “This is just beautiful. Here is a beautiful and authentic collection of photographs that brings so well the nature and culture of Kerala,” said leading film actor and director Suhasini Maniratnam after going through Kerala Tourism’s all-India photo exhibition ‘Lenscape Kerala’ at the Lalit Kala Akademi, here today.

    “This is a beautiful initiative from Kerala Tourism. The way this exhibition has been organised and curated deserves congratulation,” she said.

    Noting that the exhibition has authentically and realistically captured many facets of Kerala’s beauty, she said “there is landscape of Kerala, people of Kerala, culture of Kerala, dances and art forms of Kerala, and now Lenscape Kerala. I think it should continue every year.”

    Saying that she had always enjoyed her visits to Kerala, Suhasini Maniratnam said “I am happy to see the places I have been to, so beautifully depicted in these frames.”

    Kerala Tourism Minister P A Mohamed Riyas said State Tourism Department, and he personally, is happy that Suhasini, a great friend of Kerala, enjoyed the exhibition so much, as reflected by her words of appreciation.

    The exhibition, which showcases the scenic charm, cultural vibrancy and lived experiences of the state as an all-season destination in 100 curated frames, had drawn a steady stream of visitors since it opened in the city on Wednesday.

    A country-first initiative, Lenscape Kerala is curated by eminent art curator and critic Uma Nair. Renowned wildlife and conservation photographer Balan Madhavan is the Director of Photography of the project.

    The participating photographers of Lenscape Kerala had travelled to different places of the state and focused on diverse themes, dear to each one of them.

    The photographers who are part of the project are: Aishwarya Sridhar, Amit Pasricha, H Satish, Kounteya Sinha, Manoj Arora, Natasha Kartar Hemrajani, Saibal Das, Saurabh Chatterjee, Shivang Mehta and Umesh Gogna.

    They had travelled through different landscapes of Kerala for five days in November and December last year, covering a range of themes such as nature, wildlife, heritage, rural and coastal life, architecture, festivals and spirituality.

    Starting from New Delhi, the show has toured Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru, before reaching Chennai, from where it will move on to Hyderabad (Mar 12-14), Surat (19-21) and finally to Kolkata (March 27-29).
