Tata Chemicals Takes the Top Spot for Sustainability and CSR

Tata Chemicals Ltd. has been ranked as the number one company for Sustainability & CSR practice in Responsible Business Ranking 2019, a study conducted by Futurescape.

This year’s study examines the role of the SDGs in the Indian context and highlights top emerging themes like waste, water, renewable energy and data privacy. The study follows the environment, social and governance (ESG) framework to examine corporate performance. Besides reviewing the spending patterns on CSR, the study also combines performance and spending into the responsibility matrix of the companies. This is the third year in a row that Tata Chemicals has topped the all India ranking.

The ‘Responsible Business Ranking’ study is an annual practice undertaken by Futurescape. This is an analytical examination of Indian sustainability reports, annual reports and business responsibility reports. It covers industries as diverse as automobiles, banks, FMCG, infrastructure, information technology, metals and mining, oil, power, steel, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications and others. The study in its sixth year showcases the successful journey of Corporate India towards responsible growth. While the study examines the ESG performance of companies, the research also indicates that companies are gradually incorporating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their responsible business actions. Out the 218 companies studied, 60 companies have mapped their responsible business actions to SDGs. Nine of the top 10 companies mapped their goals to SDG.
