Union Minister of State of Railways Flags off Kochuveli–Mangaluru Antyodaya Train Service

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
In continuation with the efforts of Indian Railways in making Railway services more accessible and affordable to common man, a fully unreserved, new bi-weekly Antyodaya Express train service is introduced between Kochuveli – Mangaluru.
Rajen Gohain, Union Minister of State of Railways flagged off the inaugural special of Train no.16355/16356 Kochuveli – Mangaluru Antyodaya Express during a function held at Kochuveli Railway Station today, the 9th of June, 2018.
K.J.Alphons, Union Minister of State for Tourism, Kadakampally Surendran, Minister for Co-operation, Tourism and Devasom, Govt. of Kerala, Adv. V.K.Prasanth, Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram, C.P.Narayanan M.P, V.S.Sivakumar, M.L.A., O.Rajagopal, M.L.A., graced the occasion by their presence.
In his keynote address, Rajen Gohain, Union Minister of State of Railways expressed his happiness about the introduction of the new Antyodaya Express Train service connecting Kerala and Karnataka. He stated that Indian Railways has successfully launched Humsafar, Antyodaya, Tejas and Uday rakes besides Deen Dayalu, Anubhuti and Swarn Coaches which are equipped with novel amenities and enhanced safety features and that the new Antyodaya service in Kerala will be a boon for common man.
The minister lauded the efforts of Southern Railway in expediting various infrastructural projects and electrification of lines over the zone and added that dedicated freight corridor and strengthening of infrastructure would enhance speed and safety. Minister also received representations from members of the public and elected representatives.
K.J.Alphons, Union Minister of State for Tourism expressed thanks to Railway Ministry for introducing the much awaited Antyodaya service in Kerala. He also thanked Railway Ministry for the continued initiatives in commissioning various projects over Kerala. Other dignitaries who spoke on the occasion expressed happiness about the introduction of Antyodaya Express between Kochuveli and Mangaluru.
P.K.Mishra, Additional General Manager, Southern Railway, Shirish Kumar Sinha, Divisional Railway Manager, Thiruvananthapuram, Principal Head of Departments, staff of Southern Railway and members of recognised Unions participated in the function.
