Rather than a mere intellectual process, the University Science Research should be an exercise to improve the day-to- day life of commoners, said, Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala.
According to him Award of Degree is not the only mission of Universities, but to ensure people friendly research. He was inaugurating Shastrayaan Sammelan organized by Cochin University of Science and Technology at Thrikkakkara campus.
Prof. C. Raveendranath, Minister for Education presided over the function. According to him the Universities should function for the society and its research should help the commoner to improve their
life conditions; research and its practical application of results should become a cyclic process.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan released Thanneerthadangalum Jaivavaividhyavum , a book published by Cusat Public Relations and Publications and edited by Dr. Anil kumar Vadavathoor at the Function. He also released a Video film and research book titled Sastrayaan prepared on Cusat’s research and academic merits.

The Exhibition highlighting the research activities of Cusat for the general public and representatives of Panchayathi raj institutions was also concluded.
