New Delhi: BJP MP and Dalit leader Udit Raj embarrassed his pro-Hindu political party and the anti-beef politicians with a Twitter tweet praising the virtues of eating beef with reference to the Jamican athlete Usain Bolt who won 9 gold medalsat Rio Olympics.
“Usain Bolt of Jamaica was poor and trainer advised him to eat beef both the times and he scored 9 gold medals in Olympics,” the Lok Sabha member from North West Delhi tweeted.
BJP and its pro-Hindu feeder organisations treat beef as an emotive issue and recently there have been many brutal attacks on Dalits and Muslims by cow vigilantes in the country. BJP- ruled states have implemented tough laws banning consumption and trade of beef.
It has obviously embarrassed the BJP camp. Later, the minister came with a clarification saying that all he wanted to say is that our athletes should learn dedication from Usain Bolt.
