THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
The hugely successful Adopt-a-Village programme spearheaded by the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of prominent AI and digital transformation solutions company UST, has added yet another feather in its cap in its efforts to provide safe drinking water to needy communities.
The UST CSR team inaugurated and handed over two more RO water treatment plants to the people residing in the villages of Pacha East Ward 12 in Edathva panchayat, and Mankombu Ward 4 in Chambakkulam panchayat of Kuttanad, Alappuzha, Kerala.
The RO Water treatment plants installed in these villages can treat 500 litres of water every hour. The two plants have been installed at a total cost of Rs.16.5 lakh. The water treatment plants will ensure clean drinking water access to people residing in these villages.
“I’m glad that UST’s CSR team has kept the momentum going in terms of ensuring access to safe, potable water to the needy villages of Kuttanad in Alappuzha. After having initiated the CSR activity in Mithrakkari, Oorukary, Kandankary, and Vezhapra villages some time ago, we have been able to follow it up with two more water treatment plants in Pacha East Ward 12 in Edathva panchayat, and Mankombu Ward 4 in Chambakkulam panchayat. This indeed is a great success for our Adopt-a-Village programme, and we will continue our efforts to more villages,” said Sunil Balakrishnan, Chief Values Officer and Global Head of Development Center Operations, UST.
A UST team comprising CSR Lead Ramu Krishna and CSR Ambassadors Sreehari and Kiran Mohanan Nair inaugurated and handed over the water treatment plants at two different functions organised in these two villages. The villagers who assembled in large numbers expressed gratitude to UST for ensuring safe and affordable drinking water access. UST had previously handed over RO water treatment plants to the villages of Mithrakkari, Oorukary, Kandankary, and Vezhapra in Kuttanad, Alappuzha.
