  • Vietjet Announces Multi-Billion Dollar U.S. Partnerships

By NE Reporter on February 20, 2026

    MUMBAI:
Vietjet has signed multiple strategic agreements with leading U.S. corporations and financial institutions, with a combined value exceeding US$6.3 billion. The signings took place in Washington, D.C., in the presence of General Secretary To Lam and senior officials from both countries, underscoring the growing depth of Vietnam–U.S. economic and aviation cooperation.

The agreements mark a significant step in Vietjet’s long-term strategy to expand its global partnerships, strengthen financial capacity, and accelerate fleet modernization. The airline continues to deepen air connectivity globally and across the Asia–Pacific region, strengthening its footprint in key high-growth markets such as India.

US$5.4 Billion Engine and Maintenance Services Agreement
The airline signed a US$5.4 billion agreement with Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business and global leader in aircraft engines, for the selection of GTF™ engines and comprehensive maintenance services for 44 Airbus A321NEO and A321XLR aircraft.

The next-generation engines are designed to enhance fuel efficiency, reduce operating costs, and lower carbon emissions. The partnership supports Vietjet’s fleet expansion plans while aligning with its sustainable development and green transition strategy.

    Boeing 737-8 Aircraft Financing Agreement
In a separate development, Vietjet signed an aircraft financing agreement with Griffin Global Asset Management to finance six Boeing 737-8 aircraft, valued at approximately US$965 million at list prices.

The agreement reflects Vietjet’s efforts to diversify international funding sources and enhance its capital structure in line with global financial standards. Strengthening access to competitive global financing is expected to support the airline’s continued growth and operational expansion.

A Milestone in Vietnam–U.S. Aviation and Economic Cooperation
With a combined value exceeding US$6.3 billion, the agreements carry importance beyond their commercial impact. They support deeper collaboration in technology and finance, contribute to job creation, and strengthen value chain integration between the two economies.

Vietjet Managing Director Nguyen Thanh Son said: “These agreements in the United States reflect Vietjet’s strong commitment to expanding the scale of international partnerships and developing a modern, sustainable fleet. They provide a solid foundation to enhance our financial strength, elevate operational standards, and support long-term growth for the aviation industry in Vietnam and globally.”

Vision of a Multinational Aviation Group
The Washington signings represent a milestone in Vietjet’s evolution as a globally integrated aviation group, strengthening its competitiveness and supporting long-term industry growth.

As Vietjet continues to expand its global partnerships and modern fleet, Indian travellers can look forward to enhanced connectivity, greater travel flexibility, and more competitive fares when flying with the airline across Vietnam and beyond. The airline offers direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru to Hanoi and/or Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s largest metropolises. From Vietnam, passengers can connect to multiple destinations across Asia-Pacific through Vietjet’s expansive and affordable flight network.
