  • Vintage and Contemporary Furniture line from Indian by Label

By NE Reporter on March 31, 2017

    KOCHI:
Every product has a story to tell. Sometimes, you come to buy something that you need, and at other times you may want to buy a piece that you connect with.
Your home or a space that you spend a lot of time in should reflect you, it’s an extension of you. You are not who you were yesterday, so as years go by your space will be telling a story of your life and experiences and that’s Devi Nairwhat we at Indian By label desire to fulfill.
Indian By Label is a furniture brand which specializes in designing and manufacturing of furniture, built to custom & available at store. We are a niche segment that focuses on designs that are vintage style and a fusion between the vintage and contemporary. A revival style of sorts.
Our products include Living Room Furniture, writing tables, dining tables, chairs, ottomans, Boudoir Furniture, storage cabinets, decor items, pouffes, rugs, mirrors, wardrobes and modular kitchens to name a few. Indian By Label will be soon entering the online world, from where you can order your furniture, and it will be delivered all over India.
We emphasize on design and craftsmanship. Founded by an Architect, the brand aims at adding a large entree of designs that are enriching in itself, adding beauty to the spaces, creating style statements, vibrant or subtle.
Each product takes layers of designing. We delve in prototypes before creating the final piece. Also, each product, feels like it is handmade as every piece is crafted to its entirety. Once the design has evolved, we then look into the kind of wood that could be used for the product and what sort of finishes would do justice to it. The timber sourced locally is hand-picked by our team of local carpenters, ensuring that
    we get the best quality.
Being an architect, I understand the necessity for having beautiful, enjoyable spaces that also fits into one’s budget. If you’re the kind that likes to model your home, cafe or office with items that resonate with your identity then you’ve come to the right place. Our personally curated furniture designs bring about a sense of
quality whether it is in your home or outside. I find that as an architect we design spaces with certain ambience in mind, and when those items are hard to come by, we have to then resort to making them ourselves. This was how the concept of Indian By label actually came about. We started working with local artisans, from carpenters, carvers, cane weavers to polishers, and the journey has only brought about more beautiful experiences. I feel once you start working with them personally, you learn so much more about not just the wood, or its strength but a little bit of culture, a little bit of history, the essence of it all seeps in. Somehow that’s what makes our products so much more beautiful. As though it’s a living- breathing art piece.
At this point our country is growing in expanding in terms of culture and experiences, and our society is on the lookout for improving their quality of living. This translates into great spaces, and I believe our products only enhance that feeling.
I have clients who come to me by word of mouth, as well as walk-in- customers, who have seen my cottage like house from the outside, and walk in out of curiosity. My sample designs are displayed here in an alcove manner where you can see how a certain space is already styled and how different pieces of furniture,
decor items and colors can spruce up a corner. We can also design products after having a look at your space. Together with all the excitement, we also can help you choose the wood based on your budget so that you can have a piece you like at an affordable cost…! Readily available pieces can be
taken home immediately, while the custom made ones could take about a week or two.
Our store will be opening shortly at Vytilla and studio at Panampilly Nagar premises.
Working with local artisans and creating beautiful pieces is our essence, and an experience in itself.
