Women’s Cancer Control Initiative” of Women’s Wing of IMA Kochi

KOCHI:
The burden of cancer incidence and mortality is rapidly growing world-wide. In women, Breast Cancer is the most common and a leading cause of death mainly due to delay in diagnosis and initiation of treatment. Gynecologic cancers like cervical, uterine and ovarian cancers are the other common cancers affecting women. Though these cancers can be diagnosed at early stages when the survival is close to 90 %, majority of patients seek medical attention only at late stages when survival falls to about 25%.

The theme of World Cancer Day 2022 is “Close the Care Gap”. Every single one of us has the ability to make a difference, and together we can make a progress in reducing the impact of cancer in the society.

Recognising that knowledge is power, in a combined “Cancer Control Initiative” by Women Doctors Wings, IMA Kochi, Canserve Society, Lulu Mall Kochi and the residents of Trinity 4 C Apartment, “Fiercely Feminine” a 4 part series of cancer awareness shots by Senior Consultant Breast and GYN Oncosurgeon Dr Michelle Aline Antony was shown to the public at Lulu Mall Kochi on March 12 th at 4 pm.
