KOCHI:
On International Women’s Day 2023, Air India Express organized an art appreciation evening at Kochi to felicitate G.S Smitha whose latest painting exhibited at Kochi Biennale became a tail art of one of the Boeing 737- 800 aircraft of Air India Express.
The replica of the tail art installed at Terminal 3 of the Cochin International Airport (CIAL) served as the backdrop for the aesthetic event. Bose Krishnamachari, President of Kochi Biennale Foundation was the Guest of Honour and Manu G, Airport Director was also present.
Each Air India Express aircraft tail is a 25 feet tall canvas that carries some aspects of Indian art, culture and heritage. Every tail, thus, tells a tale. The tail art of Smitha on AIr India Express’s Boeing 737-800 aircraft VT-AXN celebrates the airline’s art connection and takes the 2023 edition of the Kochi Muziris Biennale to the skies.
The tail art is an adaptation of the original acrylic painting by Smitha GS. In this painting, the artist travels through a parallel timeline via the planes of memory, recreating colourful landscapes filled with chameleons, grasshoppers, micro-organisms and aquatic creatures.
