Annual General Body Meeting of Xavier Board of Higher Education in India

Xavier Board of Higher Education in India (XBHEI) held its Annual General Body Meeting on the theme Institutional Preparedness for the Future: Challenges and Opportunities in Higher Education from October 21 to 23, 2023, at Rajagiri Business School, Kochi, Kerala.

XBHEI is the sole association of all Catholic Institutions of Higher Education in India. Its national office is located in Bangalore and it encompasses 420 colleges, 6 universities, 5 medical colleges, and 60 autonomous colleges.

The event commenced with an Inaugural Mass, celebrated by Rev Elias Gonsalves, Archbishop of Nagpur and Chairman of CBCI Commission for Education and Culture in New Delhi. Following this, S C Sharma, Former Director of NAAC Bangalore, delivered the Inaugural address.

Dr. N. V. Varghese, Former Vice Chancellor of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration in New Delhi, delivered the Keynote Address, focusing on The Evolving Landscape of Higher Education in India: Shifting Trends and Approaches. The Other eminent speakers included Dr. Shailendra Raj Mehta (President & Director, Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad), Rev.Dr. Fr. Paul Parathazham (Former Director, St. John’s Academy of Health Sciences, Bengaluru), Prof. Dr. Jancy James (Former Vice Chancellor of MG University, Founder & Vice Chancellor of Central University, Kasargod), Dr. N. Jayasankaran (Former V.C. of SCSVMV, Kanchi Uty., Former Director of BIM, Advisor NMIMS Uty, Karnataka), and Dr. Aloysius Edward (Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management, Kristu Jayanthi College, Bengaluru).

Moreover, the program included cultural performances by students from member institutions, parallel sessions, discussions, and an Annual General Body Meeting and Executive Board Meeting . Notably, the Xavier Board National Excellence Awards 2023 was presented during the event, recognizing excellence in various categories such as the best college, best researcher, best arts college, best commerce college, best science college, best college for networking and academic collaborations, and for outreach and extension activities.

This event hosted jointly by Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (Autonomous) and Rajagiri Business School proclaims a rich history and unwavering commitment of these educational institutions that stand as beacons of excellence.

A dedicated team of 13 committees, tirelessly worked to ensure the successful conduct of this year’s Annual General Body Meeting of Xavier Board wherein over 325 delegates from different parts of India participated, contributing to its stellar reputation in the field of education. It continues to be a leading organization dedicated to providing quality education and fostering academic excellence.
