KOCHI:
It was a mood quite removed from the cloudy and dull morning air of the city as singers Joseph Shinil and Priya Pradeep shared the stage for a heart-warming performance at the Government General Hospital.
The weekly Arts and Medicine music programme, with its therapeutic intentions, drew a fair crow
Joseph began with ‘Melle Melle Mukhapadam’ (Minnaminunginte Nurungu Vettom, 1987), followed by several melodious Malayalam films songs and conc luded the show with the old Hindi number ‘ Chaand Jaise Mukhede Pe’ (Sawan Ko Aaane Do, 1979). The duo performed duets including ‘Pookal Panineer Pookal’ and ‘Kannum Kannum’.
“Usually musical shows discontinue after a period of time, but this show has moved on and is a great platform for fellowship and camaraderie,” said Joseph, who has been singing for over two decades. He has sung for the Cochin Arts and Communications(CAC) and with the bands Angel voice, Muvattupuzha, and Sagara, Trivandrum.
His singing career has taken him around the globe and the experience is evident from his effortless execution of songs. Priya is an alumnus of RLV College, Thripunithura, and sings for Kalabhavan . She has lent her voice to many devotional songs and has sung tracks for four Malayalam movies.
The Arts and Medicine programme, organized by the Kochi Biennale Foundation in association with Lakeshore Hospital and Research Centre, and Mehboob Memorial Orchestra, brings various artists and singers every Wednesday to the hospital for performances aimed at bringing cheer and solace to the patients.
