CBSE Arts Festival to be Adopted Similar to Athletic Meet Nationally, says Union Minister V Muraleedharan

The 24th CBSE Inter School Athletic Meet (Kerala and Lakshadweep) organised hy CBSE New Delhi and hosted by Pragati Academy, Perumabvoor, was released by V Muraleedharan Minister of State for External Affairs at Kochi.

Releasing the logo, Muraleedharan said that steps will be taken to organise CBSE Arts Festival at the national-level. He pointed out that though CBSE is conducting athletic meet at the national-level, arts festival is not conducted.

“When Smriti Irani was the Union Minister of Human Resources, efforts were taken to organise Arts Festival at the national-level, but didn’t take off. There should be opportunity for the CBSE students to prove their capabilities in sports and arts sectors”, the minister said.

Athletic Meet Organising committee general convenor Dr Indira Rajan said that the present CBSE Arts festival do not have the recognition of the CBSE and a certification similar to the Athletic meet should be adopted for the arts festivals also. It would give a lot of weightage for the talents of the art festival participants.

The Athletic Meet will be held at Maharaja’s Stadium from October 30 to November 2, 2019. The Meet will be attended by more than 4,000 CBSE students from Kerala and Lakshadweep in 155 categories, she added.

A 101- member organising committee has been formed with Sachin Takur, RO, Thiruvananthapuram, Manish Thayagi, director, COE and other CBSE officials, Officials of Kerala State Sports Council, Kerala Athletic Federation, Olympic Association, Council of CBSE Schools Kerala President Jose Thomas as chairman (Choice Group of Institutions, Chairman) E Ramankutty Warrier, director, Bharateeya Vidya Bhavan, Siyad Kokker, chairman, Al Ameen Educational Trust, G Rajmohan, chairman, Saraswathi Vidyalaya, Thiruvananthapuram, George Thomas, Arjuna Awardee, Standing Committee member of Kerala State Sports Council and General Manager, BPCL, as chairman of programme committee, state executives of CCSK and Suchitra Shyjinth, principal, Pragathi Academy as chief-coordinator of the meet.

Jose Thomas delivered the keynote address at the logo release function. Dr Indira Rajan, G Rajmohan, Siyad Kokkar, Arjuna Awardee George Thomas and  Suchitra Shyjinth, Principal, Pragati Academy, participated.
