CM Unveils Logo of Biggest Marathon in Kerala

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has unveiled the logo of the GTECH marathon to be held on February 11 (Sunday) at Infopark, Kochi. Infosys Co-founder SD Shibulal and Founder and Executive Chairman of IBS Software VK Mathews were present at the function at Infopark yesterday. Nearly 7,000 runners have registered for the marathon making it one of the largest ever marathons to be held in Kerala.

Organised by the Group of Technology Companies (GTECH), the industry body of IT companies in Kerala, the purpose of the marathon is to create increased public awareness about the prevalence of drugs abuse in Kerala and its ill effects, especially among young boys and girls. This is the second edition of the GTECH marathon, the first was held in Trivandrum in 2023.

Student community from some of the leading colleges in Cochin, IT professionals, central & state government employees, defence personnel and corporate members are among those who have registered for the marathon.

Nearly half of the registered participants comprise of women and children. The awards for the three categories of run – 3 kms, 10 kms and 21 kms – will be handed over by Kerala Sports Minister V. Abdurahiman.

“This is a coming together of more than one lakh IT professionals of Kerala to spread the message ‘No to drugs, Yes to fitness’. As a responsible community we are committed to taking up emerging social issues that confront our state. The marathon is a reflection of this commitment’, said Shri VK Mathews, who is also the Chairman of GTECH.

GTECH has as its members around 250 IT companies comprising of 80% of the IT employees in the state. All major companies – TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, IBS Software, Tata Elxsi, Quest, Allianz, UST, EY – as well as medium and small companies across Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram, Infopark in Kochi and Cyberpark in Kozhikode form part of GTECH.
