The Cup of Life A project of Al Ameen College Edathala along with NSS Unit of the College and Women’s Cell to promote usage of Menstrual Cup instead of sanitary napkins.
The Project was launched in collaboration with the Kochi branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Dr. Maria Varghese, President, IMA Kochi, inaugurated the event. Dr. Aaavani gynecologist at Amrita Hospital was given the awareness class for children and teachers of the college. Dr. Avani commented on menstrual hygiene and the use of the menstrual cup and how its use can make menstrual days like any other normal day.
IMA Secretary Dr. Anitha Thilakan and National Health Mission officials Dr. Akhil Xavier Manuel, and others led classes on a variety of subjects. All the girls in college lined up for the menstrual cup campaign with the hashtag Throw Your Pad, Use Our Cup Enjoy Your Periods. As part of this campaign, the Menstrual Cup, which costs Rs 300, was made available to all college girls and teachers for just Rs 100. College Principal Dr. Cini Kurian, NSS Program Officers Dr. Shibini, Dr. Sreeja and Women Cell Coordinator Dr. Shaniba also preached.
