KOCHI:
Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) received the Chancellor’s Award 2020 from Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, the Chancellor of the Universities in Kerala.
Dr K N Madhusoodanan, the Vice-chancellor of CUSAT and Pro Vice Chancellor Dr PG Sankaran received the award at a function held at the Raj Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Higher Education Minister Dr R. Bindu, Vice Chairman, Higher Education Council Vice-Chairman Dr Rajan Gurukal, and Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Higher Education Dr V. Venu also in the award ceremony stage.
The 2020 award was jointly given to Cochin University of Science and Technology and Mahatma Gandhi University. The winning universities will receive a trophy and a certificate worth Rs 5 crore. The award money can be used for infrastructure development in the academic sector. Cochin University of Science and Technology will receive 2.5 crore in 2019-20. CUSAT has previously won the Chancellor’s Award for in 2016-17 and 2018-19. Former Governor Justice (Retd.) P. Sathasivam instituted the Chancellor of Universities in 2015. Registrar Dr V Meera and Dr K Ajitha also attended the function.
