Elephant-themed “Aa Aana” Exhibition to Start from December 1

KOCHI:
“Aa Aana” exhibition to start from December 1st at CSI Hall near St. John De Britto school, Fort Kochi. The exhibition is a part of ‘Gajotsavam’, a program to raise awareness on the conservation of our National Heritage Animal elephant.

The exhibition, which is conducted as part of the Cochin Carnival, will cover the connection and importance for elephants in various topics like art, culture etc. and will also showcase how elephants are presented in temple rituals. The event is conducted by Wildlife Trust of India in collaboration with Whitley Fund for Nature and Cochin Collective. Screening and discussion of films which are related to elephants will also be there. ‘Bala Gaja’, an event where students can come and create their own art pieces on elephants is another highlight of the exhibition.

Along with that, application for the ‘Gajamithra’ media awards presented by Wildlife Trust of India and Whitley Fund for Nature has also started. Print/online,
television/documentary features, radio/podcasts and social media influencers are the four different award categories. Applicants has to be from kerala and should be within the age category of 21-40. The award, judged by the panel consisting of authors Paul Zacharia, N. S. Madhavan, and elephant expert Dr. P. S. Easa, will be announced on April 2023.

Cochin Carnival Society President K. J. Sohan, Wildlife Trust of India communication head Ananda Banerji, and ‘Aa Aana’ event advice committee member Bony Thomas were also part of the press conference.
