THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Ticket checking squad of Thiruvananthapuram division unearthed a major fraud in circular journey tickets.
Circular Journey Tickets give passengers benefit of telescopic rates for travel through multiple destinations, with up to eight break journeys and the journey finally ending at originating station. The ticketing inspectors of special squad, K P Umesh (Chief Ticketing Inspector/Squad Kollam), Shaji Yohannan (Travelling Ticketing Inspector/Squad Thiruvanananthapuram), K.G Sreekumar (Travelling Ticketing Inspector/Squad Thiruvanananthapuram) and K R Krishnakumar (Travelling Ticketing Inspector/Squad Thiruvanananthapuram) during their inspections on 04.10.2018 and 05.10.2018 at 16381 Mumbai CSMT-Kanniyakumari Jayanthi express detected fake Circular Journey Tickets possessed by group of passengers travelling by Unreserved General Class coaches.
The tickets were found to be counterfeited at Gorakhpur area of North Eastern Railway. On 04.10.2018, 35 cases were detected and a sum of Rs 40250/- was realised as fine from those passengers. Today(05.10.2018), 47 cases were detected and Rs 57810/- was realised as fine. The case is reported to Vigilance branch of Southern Railway and Railway Board for necessary action. Railway Protection Force staff of Thiruvananthapuram division assisted the Ticketing Inspectors for realising fine amount.
