FC Goa Defeat Cartagena B in Second Pre-Season Friendly

PANJIM:
FC Goa humbled a youthful Cartagena B side 20-0 in their second pre-season match at the La Manga Club in Spain. It was a game where star striker Ferran Corominas opened his account for the new season scoring 5 goals, while the likes of youth product Liston Colaco and new signings Jackichand Singh and Miguel Palanca bagged hat tricks.
The Gaurs began the game in their usual zest, dominating possession and looking dangerous in attack. Early on in the game Coro latched on to an exquisite ball from Jahouh, dribbled into the box and slotted home his side’s first goal.
The Indian Super League (ISL) side created numerous chances, and in the 20th minute, a pinpoint cross from Brandon found Coro in the box, who dodged the Cartagena B defender to give his side a 2-0 advantage. Not even a minute had passed when Brandon won back possession in the opposition half, and this time it was Hugo Boumous who dodged 2 defenders and the goalkeeper to make the scoreline 3-0.
The Gaurs continued to hunt down their opposition, not giving them time to breathe. In the 30th minute, Boumous’ deflected shot fell to Coro who smashed home his third and FC Goa’s fourth on the night. It was not long before Boumous added his second and The Gaurs’ fifth goal. By the end of the half, Brandon and Coro scored a goal each to give the Goan club a 7-0 lead.
The Gaurs continued to build on their momentum from the first half as new signing Jackichand Singh got off the mark. He scored a quick-fire double before Coro added his fifth of the game in the 58th minute. Soon after Jackichand completed his hat trick giving the Gaurs a 11-0 lead in the 61st minute.
Four minutes later, Liston’s run was picked out by Jahouh, who rounded the keeper to score his first goal of the game. It was then the former Real Madrid man who decided to get in on the action as Miguel Palanca scored his first two goals for his new club in the 68th and 72nd minute, respectively. It was Edu’s turn to get onto the scoresheet scoring a sublime free kick from 23-yards out.
Palanca also completed his hat trick in the 77th minute to give the Gaurs a 16-0 lead. FC Goa Developmental team player Princeton Rebello also managed to bag his first goal for the senior team in the 80th minute when he converted Liston’s cross. Youngster Liston Colaco also managed to complete his hat trick before Pratesh rounded up the action in the 86th minute to give his side a 20-0 victory.
The Gaurs have now won two games on the trot and will be looking to continue their momentum for the upcoming games.
