FC Goa down Sporting Clube de Goa 7-2

GOA:
A thrilling clash in the GFA TACA Goa U20 First Division League ended with the FC Goa Dev Team beating Sporting Clube de Goa 7-2 at the Salvador do Mundo Panchayat Ground on Tuesday.

Mevan Dias continued his impressive run of form by netting twice for the Gaurs, while Richie Vaz and Vellinton Flaro netted Sporting Clube’s consolation goals.

Dev Team head coach Deggie Cardozo made three changes to the starting XI that featured in the win against Sesa Football Academy on Friday. Reezvon Fernandes, Delzan Passanha and HP Lalremruata returned to action, replacing Rayan Menezes, Aditya Salgaonkar and Bryson Pereira respectively.

While FC Goa had the upper hand right from kick-off, it took 30 minutes for them to find their opening goal via Mevan. A wonderful ball out wide by Lalremruata picked out Jovial Dias, who crossed it back into the box for the forward to find the back of the net with ease.

Five minutes later, Malsawmtluanga doubled the Gaurs’ lead with a stunning strike from close range. In the 43rd minute, Mevan Dias completed his brace.

Coming back after the half-time break, Cardozo’s boys picked up right from where they left off, with Jovial Dias, Mallikjan Kalegar and Davis Fernandes finding the back of the net in the 55th, 65th and 76th minute respectively.

Just when it looked like FC Goa would enjoy an easy win, Richie and Vellinton scored in quick succession to give Sporting some reason to celebrate.

But in the 86th minute, Jordan Borges pulled one back for the Gaurs to restore a five-goal cushion and that ultimately proved to be the final action of the match.

FC Goa will return to action in the GFA TACA Goa U20 First Division League on June 4, when they take on Salgaocar FC at the Duler Municipal Stadium in Mapusa, Goa.
