THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
The newly-founded Plantation Directorate is organising a pioneering four-day event starting this Thursday in the city, conceived as the first major step to make Kerala Plantation a global brand while ensuring the progress of the labourers in the sector.
The February 16-19 ‘Plantation Expo’ on the Sooryakanthi Exhibition Grounds at Kanakakunnu Palace will see the participation of registered plantations in the state, the cooperative societies in the sector, pertinent traders, distributors and providers of goods and services.
The expo is going to be the first of its kind in the country, according to Industry Minister P. Rajeeve. “Next year, we plan to take it on to a global level,” he added.
The 2023 event will feature 100 stalls showcasing the products and services of the participants. Also, experts will lead seminars on Friday and Saturday on various aspects of the plantation sector.
Public entry is free for the expo on all days from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
