KOCHI:
R.K Kulshrestha, General Manager , Southern Railway, conducted station inspections at Ernakulam North, Ernakulam South and Cochin Harbour Terminus along with Shirish Kumar Sinha, Divisional Railway Manager, Thiruvananthapurm Division, Divisional Officers and Senior Officers of Construction Organisation.
A meeting convened by the General Manager with divisional and southern railway construction organisation officials at Ernakulam south station, reviewed the progress of doubling, safety related track renewal works and punctuality of trains in the division. It has been decided to expedite the introduction of DEMU services from Cochin Harbour Terminus station. Cochin Harbour Terminus will be developed into a heritage station. After the introduction of DEMU service in the section, a heritage special train service will be introduced probably during weekends using steam heritage locomotives and vintage coaches for the rail enthusiasts and tourists.
On 11th August 2018 R K Kulshrestha conducted window trailing inspection of Ernakulam Jn-Alappuzha rail route section with divisional officers. GM inspected the condition of tracks, electrical overhead equipments, bridges, level crossing gates and stations en route.
