Goa will form a separate Ministry for Ayush for promotion of Ayurveda and traditional systems of medicine, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant announced at the valedictory session of the 9th World Ayurveda Congress (WAC) here today.
Speaking at the session, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Chief Guest, Dr Sawant said the State Government was committed to making all efforts to promote the traditional systems of wellness.
Goa will be made a hub of health tourism by leveraging the potential of Ayurveda, Dr Sawant said.
He said the country had been witnessing a massive promotion of the Ayurveda, which became possible due to the leadership and support of Shri Modi.
“Ache Din has come for Ayurveda, thanks to the leadership of Modi ji. Things will become possible when Modi is the leader of the nation”, Dr Sawant, himself an Ayurvedic doctor, said.
Union Minister for Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal said Ayurveda is now passing through its ‘Amritkaal’ due to the support of the Prime Minister.
“Under the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister Ayurveda has scaled new heights. India’s G-20 Presidency will provide great opportunities to promote Ayurveda the word over”, Sonowal said.
Goa Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai, Union Minister of State for Tourism Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for Ayush Munjapara Mahendrabahi and Vijnana Bharati president Dr Shekhar Mande were present at the valedictory of the December 8-11 event.
