Gurupranam revealed the greatness of teacher-student relation. The solemn function of honouring about twenty senior teachers and faculty members was organized by the Indian Society of Gastroenterology in the silver jubilee conference at the IMA house. The eminent personalities who are forerunners of many of the revolutions and changes in this field were honoured. Life Time Achievement Award was conferred to Dr. V. Balakrishnan known as the Father of Gastroenterology in Kerala. As a researcher, writer, professor and patriot, ISG President Dr. Sunil K Mathai honoured him. Five lakh rupees will be contributed for giving endowment for the best research paper in the field every year, Dr. Balakrishnan said in his reply speech. The money is contributing intended to encourage more research papers in Gastroenterology, he added.
