As the gastrointestinal cancers increasing at an alarming rate, the Indian Society of Gastroenterology Kerala chapter welcomes the approach by State Health Services Director to begin Gastroenterology in district hospitals across Kerala.
It will make available treatment at low cost to the backward people says the organization’s office bearers Dr. Sunil K. Mathai and Dr. Binoy Sebastian. The government should provide arrangements like endoscopy and other diagnostic mechanisms. And also government should appoint more gastroenterologists in government hospitals. The organization will support all the initiatives by the government on this regard including training and workshops, they added.
