Kochikkoru Pachakkuda by Better Kochi Response Group

Kochi recorded the highest temperature this year. Reasons for such a climatic change are heavy Urbanisationn and degeneration of Environment.
The pollution level also went up forcing the Green Tribunal to ban large Diesel vehicles. Only possible immediate solution to escape at least partially from this situation is a program of intense planting of trees.
Better Kochi Response Group joined with Kumar Group Total Designers which is celebrating its 40th anniversary to come out with a unique project called Kochikkoru Pachakkuda.
Incidentally Kumar Group is planning many such environmental and heritage to be taken up this year as part of there 40th year of celebrations since they believe that giving something back to the society in returned to everything they gained from the society is the best form of celebration
Kochikkoru Pachakkuda is a project of planting one lakh trees this year in Kochi with an ambition of completing six lakhs in six years. This action will definitely bring down the temperature and also considerably reduce the pollution.
The trees will be planted in protected areas like institutions, private Residences etc and not as road side avenue trees to increase survival chances. It is also possible to create urban forests in certain designated areas. Individuals also can take home plant packages with clear instructions.
The plants are supplied free of charge. We expect corporates and individuals to sponsor this project.
A package contains special planting media in a unique biodegradable grow bag prepared by Sterling Farms. The seedlings are prepared by Green Vein an Ngo working through volunteers.
A list of more than 200 types of trees of Kerala origin are shortlisted . The project is managed by Native Events.
The location of the plants will be documented and its growth will be monitored through mobile and face book follow up. The inauguration of the project will be done at Vytilla Mobility Hud on 4th June at 9 AM by MD of the Hub Girija.
It is intended to make an intense planting in the Hub to make an Urban Forest. A raised walk way can be planned in the future giving the users a feel of the forest in the middle of the city, said S Gopakumar, president BKRG and Managing Partner Kumar Group.
