KSUM’s Kasaragod Hackathon: Platform to Manage Chit Funds Emerges Winner

A platform that effectively handles chit funds and fund collection, developed by a team engineering students LBS Engineering College here, has emerged the winner in the 50-hour hackathon jointly organized by Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) and “Kasaracode” startup community.

Named as ‘Chit Me,’ the entrepreneurship idea was presented at ‘Hack in 50 Hours’, held at Wintouch Palm Meadows, Manya, here recently. Startups ‘Farmstock’ that helps agriculturists to utilise CSR Fund; ‘Integrated Loyalty Card’, which offers myriad possibilities in fin-tech sector, and ‘Smart Vent’, which has solutions for the health hazards due to air conditioners, were selected as the most promising startups.

The best four startups will get incubation support from KSUM and mentoring by “Kasaracode” community founders. Around 24 teams, selected from 58 applicants, participated in the hackathon. Students and startups from Karnataka also turned up at the event to compete with teams from Kerala.

This was the first ever hackathon to be held in the northern district, seeking to create prototype of ideas that offer technical solutions for social problems and business opportunities. Startups, developers, students, innovators and tech enthusiasts attended the hackathon.

Founders of various startups, Muhammed Hishamuddin (Entry), Jaseel Badur Ferry (Eventifier), Unnikrishnan Koroth (Forradian Technologies), Ishan Muhammed (Munshi-G), Jaseem (Formoney), Nelson Vasanth (CEO G-Sark Startups), Mehar (Founder, Tinker Hub), Zinan (Junk Boat), Haneef Aramana (Managing Director, Wintouch), co-founder of Entry in technology subjects Rahul Ramesh, co-founder of Eventifier Nazeem Zeeshan Subhash, Naveen, Salman Fariz and KSUM Project Co-ordinator Sayyed Sawad led the classes.

KSUM is the nodal agency of Kerala Government to promote entrepreneurship development and incubation activities in the state.
