Malaysia’s Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau Launches Virtual Roadshow to India

Malaysia’s Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) conducted its 4th Annual Penang Roadshow in India for travel agents in Kochi on January 18 th , 2021.

This year’s show was carried out fully virtually followed by a Penang Night special dinner hosted for the Indian travel agents. This hybrid format ensures maximum outreach of the roadshow to Penang, Malaysia’s largest travel markets. The virtual business meet connected Penang and Malaysian sellers to qualified Indian buyers from different industry segments including business events, leisure travel, weddings, team building events and filming. The virtual show had a total of 25 registered sellers from Penang and the larger Malaysia travel and business events industry, and welcomed more than 200 buyers in total.

Addressing the Kochi travel trade members the Chief Minister of Penang, the Penang State Minister for Tourism and Creative Economy, and the CEO of Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau were present “virtually”. “I believe we can return the form of India being the top 5 market for Business Events Penang if we continue to work together to build the business. The partners and participants for the roadshow who are present shows our commitment in ensuring the sustainability of the India
– Penang travel business,” said Ashwin Gunasekeran, CEO of PCEB.

In his message to the Indian travel trade members, Penang State Minister for Tourism and Creative Economy, the Hon. Mr Yeoh Soon Hin said, “Penang is ready to welcome you and all Indian travellers back to Penang. We look forward to the day that you could personally indulge yourselves in the best that Penang has to offer; from its amazing food to our world-class hospitality.”

“The business events industry’s resilience is truly inspiring and I believe the industry will rebuild itself faster through a positive momentum set by the bureau and the Business Events Penang industry players. Understanding that, the Penang State Government has also taken a number of initiatives to help the industry recover, which also includes a 3-year long Business Events Penang Rejuvenation Plan 2021 – 2023,” shared The Rt. Hon. Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang.
