RICS SBE Organized an Impactful “World Green Building Week 2019”

RICS School of Built Environment, Amity University, India’s first and only industry-led School of Built Environment organized a very successful “World Green Build Week 2019”. The week-long program was organized in association with IGBC UP (Indian Green Building Council), the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as an initiative to create public awareness about sustainability and the need to prioritize the global agenda to “Go Green.”

The event, recognized on the official website of the World Green Building Council (WGBC) opened with the planting of saplings, lighting the lamp and with an oath ceremony led by Nimish Gupta, MD, RICS South Asia. RICS SBE is one of only two institutes in India that is associated with the World Green Building Council.

Highlights of the events include Academic Sessions, Students-driven ideation, extracurricular & fun Learning through different activities like Panel Discussions, Entrepreneurship Cell talk, Guest Lectures by renowned industry professionals and dignitaries. Competitions like poster making, design, photography, videography, build-out of waste, and exhibitions; some more activities like Flash Mob, Commercial Innovation (Skit Competition), Cultural Performances, Debate Competition. Global Sustainability was the central theme for all the activities at the event.

Commenting on the occasion, Professor Mona N Shah, Dean RICS SBE, said, “We are delighted to associate with IGBC UP, with their help and support RICS SBE successfully took this global initiative and organized remarkable week-long activities to spread awareness about sustainability. We have successfully emulated the annual WGBW campaign that promotes, motivates and empowers us to deliver green buildings and leads us into a greener & vibrant future”.

The event was attended by around 400 Students and total 70 students participated from different colleges like Jamia Milia, Deen Dayal Upadhyay College, Amity Business School, Amity Forensic, ASET, DCRUST, etc. The closing ceremony saw the presentation of winning entries, lecture/panel discussion by Dean and professors & other esteemed dignitaries, cultural performances and prize distributions to the winners, and concluding speech for the WGBC week 2019 etc.
