The Kochi Biennale Foundation (KBF), its Trustees, Patrons and Partners note with pride the opening of the first edition of the Yinchuan Biennale – curated by KBF President and Kochi-Muziris Biennale co-fou
Titled ‘For an Image, Faster than Light’, the debut biennale is an acknowledgment of the impression the Kochi-Muziris Biennale (KMB) – India’s only Biennale – has made on the international art world in just two editions.
Structured along the lines of KMB, 73 international artists will showcase their works within the dramatic environs of the Museum of Contemporary Art Yinchuan (MOCA Yinchuan), which hosts the biennale that runs till December 18, 2016.
The featured artists will explore a range of contemporary issues, in keeping with the breadth of Krishnamachari’s creative vision and the cosmopolitan ethic that is also KMB’s hallmark. The extensive and pluralistic list of participating artists includes, Anish Kapoor, Song Dong , Liam Gillik, Yoko Ono, Riyas Komu, KMB co-founder, and Sudarshan Shetty, curator of KMB’16.
The Museum of Contemporary Art Yinchuan is the first contemporary museum along the Yellow River in the northwest of China. It is considered among the best new museums in China.
101 days remain till curtains go up on the third edition of KMB, South Asia’s largest and longest contemporary art extravaganza. KMB’16 will run for 108 days from December 12, 2016, till March 29 next year.
